Abby Windows and Exteriors, one of the top roof replacement companies in the state, shares some tips on making more informed purchases below.
A Price That’s Too Good to be True
You might want to think twice about buying a window if it’s being sold at a price that’s too good to be true. There’s usually a reason why manufacturers have dropped prices this low. It may be that the windows come in a size that isn’t usually found in homes. However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take advantage of such deals. Just make sure to check the fine print.
Buy-Now Discounts
Significant discounts that are only available for a day are an even bigger red flag. Usually, companies would inflate prices on windows and then bring them down to a more reasonable rate for a day or so. Besides, if a company or contractor is pressuring you to make a decision right now, it’s possible that they don’t want to give you enough time to think your purchase through.
The Bait and Switch
In general, you should be wary of companies who insist on making changes after you’ve accepted their offer. They may offer you a door or window replacement initially but then try to offer you a better deal on a siding replacement.
Keep in mind that the products being sold using these tactics aren’t necessarily of low quality. However, the use of such manipulative tactics gives you an idea on how a company treats its customers.
Another way of avoiding such scams is to look for contractors accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The BBB assigns a rating to contractors based on their adherence to ethical business practices. Whether you need to hire window or gutter replacement contractors, it’s always a good idea to look for reputable contractors.
